MJA MAKEUP ARTIST

My name is Marisol Almeida. I was born in San Diego, CA into the world of movies. Ever since I was a child I had a mind set on re-creating what I've seen on TV whether it be fake tattoos or realistic wounds. At the age of seven I took it upon myself to make things beautiful, no matter whom or what it was including me, my family, or even the neighbors next door. It didn't hit me until the age of sixteen that I knew what I wanted to become a makeup artist.

 

The first movie that made me want to succeed in becoming a makeup artist was Rick Baker’s American Werewolf in London (1981). The certain scene of the movie where David Naughton is transforming into the wolf was phenomenal. This scene was a milestone in visual effects. It was like watching a real-time twisting of a human body into a wolf shape: limbs stretch, snouts pop, hair grows, the body contorts...it was just too amazing to watch.

 

​At the age of eighteen, I finally took it upon myself to practice challenging makeup, becoming self-taught. Then just a few years later with prior experience I went to Elegance International in Hollywood, CA and received my diploma.
